Retirement of Dr. Beverly Byrum from Ohio Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory

09/04/2019

Dr. Beverly Byrum has retired as director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) after 25 years of service.

Under the leadership of the Director the laboratory was accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians in 1996.  The ADDL has attained Tier-1 status in the NAHL network and is a member of the FDA-CVM Veterinary Laboratory Investigation and Response Network.  The ADDL was an early adopter of whole genome sequencing and is equipped for specialized diagnostic procedures.

Until a permanent director is appointed, Dr. Yan Zhang and Dr. Jeff Hayes will serve as co-interim directors of the ADDL.
